Back Panels

Now that I had the back axel on it was time to think of the vertical panel behind the seat, the parcel panel and the inner wheel arch panels.  The vertical panel was may a little more difficult by the fact that surface it was to attach to was not straight; ie the bottom surface was stepped in compared to the top and the sides.  I opted to simply attach to the top and sides and bend the panel under to bridge the gap as show below:

The next job was to manufacture to parcel panel to span the gap from the seat backs to the vertical panel.  As ever not quite as simple as it looks as you need to take account of the rear vertical chassis strut, and cut-outs at each corner.  Panel as shown

To allow me access under the panel I intend to use self-tapping screws to secure.  To provide a watertight seal, I will use a cycle inner-tube that I will seal onto the chassis and mount the panel on.

The next panels to attach were the inner wheel panels.  These are again difficult as there is no guidance in the manual and it is difficult to establish what shape is required.  To gain some idea I first roughly position the rear GRP body work and made note of how the wooden inner finishes would fit.  I then used the wooden inner wing finishes as a guide to mark out the shape of the panel.  Ended up looking like below:

The shape should be about right but may need some correction when the GRP is finally fitted.
