Refurbishment of Parts - Front (1st to 7th June 03)

First job was to dismantle front struts which looked like this:

So that I could take the strut to Sue at Tiger for an exchange Item and allow me to refurbish the front brakes.  To get the springs off I simply cut through them with an angle grinder (dangerous and not recommended!!!) and this allowed the top nut to be unscrewed.  I then undid the bolt that holds the struts to the hubs, used a screwdriver as a wedge to open the hub neck then carefully drove the strut off the hub with a hammer and piece of wood.  Next job was to dismantle the brake calipers discarding discs and brake pads which will be replaced with new items.  

This left me with:

Having taken the items off I used a drill with a wire brush attachment, a wire brush and a rotary multi-tool with sandpaper to rub the items down.  Once this was complete I then painted with red caliper paint and silver smooth metal paint (from Screwfix).  Results are as below:
