Refurbishment of Parts - Back (7th to 14th June 03)

The next job was to start and refurbish the back drive train elements.  Starting with this:

I firstly took the brake drums off, rubbed them down and painted with red caliper pain to match front.

Next job was to remove the rear brake parts, unscrew the 4 bolts that hold the drive shafts on the the rear swing arms and then withdraw the drive shafts from the assembly.  Removed all on the backplate although left the handbrake attached at this stage, and then disconnected the final drive unit by unscrewing the 4 bolts that held in place.  Next a simple job of removing the swing arms from the cross member by removing the 2 bolts.  This left me with the following bits:

Next job was to rub down the swing arms ready for undercoating (red oxide paint).

After the undercoat, painted with black smooth metal paint (screwfix again) with the results as below:

All-in-all it came out quite well.
